Fire Circle Architecture and Orbits

One way to understand the workings of our Fire Circle is by comparing the pathways of movement to the planetary orbits and their mythology. Here's a brief overview:

The fire in the center represents the Sun, the source of energy, heat, light, and transformation.

The closest dance path circling the fire is the Mercury track. It is the fleet footed inner ring of movement. Dancers in this orbit are generally quite energized and active.

The Venus track is a "medium speed" path. This is an orbit of relationship in motion, with one's self and with others. People may be in light trance, attuned to the sensuality of movement, song and rhythm.

The Earth track is the only path marked by corn-meal or flour, a slow moving orbit for those in deep trance, doing rattle work, or personal grounding.

The Mars track is defined by the inner ring of torches. People may stand in this area with small rattles, providing sonic guardianship or energetic support for others who are active within the inner orbits. A place for witnessing, and consciously creating a transformational container.

The Jupiter track between the two torch rings is an area for interactions with others which are inappropriate within the ever moving circles of the dance track. In contrast to idle social chatter, you may see people feeding or watering each other, breathing together, hugging or rubbing shoulders. Not really a "social" zone; rather a place for conscious encounters of a stationary nature.

The ring of Saturn defines the outer perimeter of the circle, including the prayer flags on the outer torch ring, the wood pile, and occasionally altars or shrines.

The Comet track is an outer pathway for walking meditation, magical conversation, and container work.
