Summer Solstice Gathering

Fire Tribe Hawaii's Gatherings emerged from a desire to create a vibrant, joyous community focused on transformation, inspiration, and free expression. The Gatherings focus on night-to-dawn fire circles. Together, we co-create sacred space for creative exploration through chant and song, dance and movement, poetry, rhythm and music, ritual theater, art, magic and ceremony.


Dates

Early Village Builders: Arrive Tuesday, June 18 to begin setting up the circle and community areas.

Gathering: Begins Wednesday, June 18. Arrive Tuesday (Early Village Builders), Wednesday or Thursday and stay through Saturday, June 21.

Afterglow: Stay an extra night and leave by Sunday afternoon, June 22.


Location

The Gathering takes place at a private campground in the mountains on the Leeward side of Oahu. Paid registrants receive specific information shortly before the Gathering, including exact location, maps, directions, and the combination to the gate lock. If you need this information sooner, send a request to registrar@firetribehawaii.org.


Registration

Event Fee: Adults: $35; Youth (5-17): $20; Children (0-4): Free

Accommodations Fee:

Tent Camping, $10 per person per night. Bring your own tent and bedding.

Stables Room, $25 per person per night; minimum occupancy of 2 paid registrants. Bring your own sheets, blankets and a pillow. 

Yurt, $33 per person, per night; minimum occupancy of 3 paid registrants. Clean bedding is provided.

       Optional Meal Plan: $20 per day.  The venue offers fresh "summer camp" fare. The kitchen will serve vegetarian meals every day, with meat options on the more populated days (likely Wednesday night through Saturday lunch).  

       Payment: You must register and pay online by Sunday, June 15th, 2008 at 11:59 PM.


You can register for two, three or all four nights.  We do not offer single-night registration. 

Driving directions and the gate combination will be emailed to registrants once payment is received.

What to Bring

  • Food, a cooler with ice, cooking gear, a plate, cup, bowl, napkins and eating utensils.
  • Comfortable clothing. This could be ceremonial or ritual clothing, costumes, jewelry, masks, magical implements, talismans for wearing or charging, a scarf or hood, sarongs, bindis, body paint, face paint, etc.
  • A blanket, beach mat, or chair.
  • An extra tarp to be used for creating shade or rain shelters for the community.
  • A sturdy clip to securely close your tent against unwanted creepy-crawlies.
  • Bedding, linens, and pillows (Note: these are supplied in the yurts).
  • Comfortable clothes, including a windbreaker or sweater in case of a cool wind.
  • A small flashlight with fresh batteries.
  • A battery or solar powered light for your tent.
  • Electrolytic beverages to drink.
  • Skin protection — from sun, mosquitoes and wind.
  • A swimsuit for swimming or sunbathing.
  • Rain gear/umbrella.
  • A garbage bag or two to for cleaning up whatever you need to clean up.
  • Towel, wash cloth, and personal hygiene items, including earth-friendly soap.
  • A pair of earplugs and an alarm clock, in case you want to nap or simply wake in time for the sunrise.
  • Snacks for the Food Altar, and any special dietary items you want or need.
  • Any medications you may need.
  • A caffeinated beverage for the drive home.
  • Comfortable footwear suitable for dancing in the circle.

Special Items You Might Like to Bring

  • Smudge sticks and incense
  • A specific personal intention for growth and transformation in your life. What kind of focus do you want to magnify or develop? What aspect of your being are you currently nurturing? How might you use art to integrate and explore this intention at the sacred circle?
  • Your chants, magical poetry, spoken prayers, ritual theatre pieces and invocations for offering around the fire.
  • Your journal or notebook to record thoughts, feelings, dreams, and special experiences.
  • Decorations such as flowers and ti leaves, ribbons, prayer flags, soap bubbles and magical stuff to add to the fire circle and general atmosphere.
  • Percussion instruments including rattles and hand drums, and other sacred sound makers such as didjeridoos, singing bowls, and other trance or droning melodic instruments.
  • An offering for the fire, such as a small branch or log.

What Not to Bring

Please help us maintain our good relationship with the venue by leaving these prohibited items at home:

  • Alcohol.
  • Illegal substances of any sort.
  • Firearms, explosives, or fireworks.
  • Pets.
